Updated: Jun 8

This was a hands-on learning event focused on process mapping and waste identification in a bottle neck area of their production process. Participants included employees, stakeholders, and SLC community members who engaged in discussions and activities focused on identifying improvement opportunities for the Simply Said team.

Key Highlights:

  • Training: Lean 101 concepts, with specific emphasis on process mapping and waste identification.

  • Workshop Application: Interactive sessions allowed participants to observe and document the current state production process and immediately applying the tools and concepts.

  • Feedback Collection: Attendees identified waste in the process (39 places), shared (49) ideas for process improvements and provided valuable insights and suggestions.

  • Networking Opportunities: The event enabled participants to form connections and engage in meaningful interactions that have, within just a few days, continued beyond the event itself. For instance, an attendee with significant experience in tool and die was able to offer crucial insights and expertise on a particular challenge and will host a specialized tool and die tour at his facility.

  • Action Plans: Teams developed actionable strategies to implement the ideas generated during the event. These were summarized and prioritized into 4 key improvement items, that will directly impact the flow and throughput at their process bottleneck!

  • Results: SLC members will be doing a series of follow-up meetings to help focus, challenge, drive execution of the ideas, and measure the impact of the changes.

Overall, the event successfully encouraged the Simply Said team, gave them actionable steps to solve a significant problem, and set the stage for ongoing improvement efforts within the organization.
